You can earn money on YouTube by applying for and being accepted into the YouTube Partner Program. You may also qualify for Short Term bonuses as part of the YouTube Shorts Fund without being part of the YouTube Partner Program.

We won't tell you what you can create on YouTube, but we have a responsibility to do the right thing for our viewers, creators and advertisers. If you are in the YouTube Partner Program, you can earn money through YouTube. If you are in the YouTube Partner Program, we take you to the next level.

To make sure we reward the best creators, we review your channel before you are accepted into the YouTube Partner Program. We also update channels regularly to ensure you meet all of our policies and guidelines.

Channels do not have to make money from YouTube to qualify for the YouTube Shorts Fund. Creators in the YouTube Partner Program and Multi-Channel Network (MCN) channels are still eligible.

Ways to monetize the YouTube Partner Program

You can make money on YouTube with the following features:


Advertising revenue: Get revenue from ads through display, overlay, and video ads.

Channel Membership: Your members make recurring monthly payments to receive the special benefits you offer.

Sales shelf: Your fans can browse and purchase official sales that are displayed on your watch pages.

Super Chat and Super Stickers: Your fans pay to have their messages highlighted in chat streams.

YouTube Premium Income: Get a portion of the YouTube Premium subscription when they view your content.

Each feature has its own set of eligibility requirements in addition to subscriber requirements and view value. If our reviewers believe your channel or video is inappropriate, certain features may not be available. These additional restrictions exist for two main reasons. Most importantly we must meet the legal requirements wherever the feature is found. Then, because we want to reward the right creators, we need to make sure we have enough content for your channel. Generally, this context means that we need more content to look at.


Remember that we regularly review channels to ensure that your content complies with our policies.
